Phrase for Mac

The AI note taker, native on your Mac.

Record a meeting or a lecture with your Mac’s microphone. Phrase writes the note with the summary, decisions and to-dos, keeps a transcript in 100+ languages beside it, and lets you edit every line in a native Mac editor.

Record

Hit record. Phrase takes the notes.

Press ⇧⌘R or click the record button in the toolbar. The elapsed time shows on Phrase’s Dock icon while you work in other apps. Your Mac stays awake for the whole recording. When you stop, the note arrives with the summary, decisions, action items and a speaker-labeled transcript.

  • A notification when the note is ready
  • Drop audio, video or a PDF on the Dock icon to import it

FAQ

Phrase for Mac, answered.

More questions? See the full FAQ or ask us.

Do I have to buy Phrase again for my Mac?

No. Phrase is one App Store listing for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Download it free on the Mac App Store, and if you already have Phrase Pro on iPhone or iPad, the same subscription works on your Mac. The Mac checks your purchases when it opens, so there is no account to sign in to.

Can Phrase for Mac record Zoom, Teams or Google Meet calls?

No. Phrase records what your Mac’s microphone hears and does not capture audio from other apps, and no bot joins your call. It is built for meetings in a room, lectures and interviews. If you already have a recording of an online meeting, import the file and Phrase turns it into a note.

What do I need to run Phrase on a Mac?

macOS 26 or later. Phrase is a native Mac app and runs on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs. Turning a recording or file into a note needs an internet connection, because transcription and note writing run in the cloud.

Do my notes sync between iPhone, iPad and Mac?

Yes, with Pro. Phrase syncs your library through your own iCloud, so a note you recorded on iPhone or Apple Watch is ready on your Mac. There is no Phrase account; sync uses your Apple Account.

Can I import audio, video and PDFs on Mac?

Yes. Choose Import Files (Shift-Command-I) or drop files on Phrase in the Dock. Audio, video, a PDF or up to 8 images become one note, with the original attached so you can check it later.

Which keyboard shortcuts does Phrase for Mac have?

Shift-Command-R starts a new recording, Command-K opens any note, Shift-Command-F searches the library, Option-Command-I opens the assistant, and Shift-Command-M shows the transcript beside the note. The full list is in the app’s menus and on this page.

Where are my notes stored?

Your library lives on your Mac and, with Pro, in your own iCloud. Recordings and files are uploaded for cloud processing to create the note, and AI features send the relevant text to the AI service. See the privacy policy for details.
