Use case · Study & flashcards

Every class becomes a deck of flashcards.

Record the lecture or import the reading. Phrase builds one trusted, source-backed note — then turns it into flashcards, quizzes with scoring, and mind maps. You study from what was actually said, not what you managed to scribble.

  1. Capture the class

Record the lecture, import the professor’s PDF, or snap up to 8 photos of the slides.

  2. One trusted note

Transcript, summary, and organized sections — with the original attached as proof.

  3. Ask for study tools

“Make flashcards from this note.” Cards, quizzes, and mind maps arrive as native Artifacts.

  4. Study & verify

Flip cards, take the quiz, check anything surprising against the lecture itself.

Native study artifacts

Cards that quiz you. Quizzes that explain.

Flashcards for recall, quizzes with feedback and scoring for exam pressure, mind maps for the big picture — all generated from the same note.

One note, many formats

Finals week, from a single source.

The same lecture note fans out into whatever the week demands: flashcards for the commute, a quiz the night before, a mind map when the topic stops making sense, a deck when it’s your turn to present the reading group.

Verify before you memorize

When a card surprises you, check the tape.

Study Artifacts keep links back to the note that made them, and the note keeps the lecture attached. A questionable answer is two taps from the professor’s own words — search the transcript, replay the moment, settle it.

FAQ

Studying with Phrase, answered.

How does Phrase turn a lecture into flashcards?

Record the class or import the recording, and Phrase creates a structured note with a transcript and summary. Ask the assistant to make flashcards from that note and they arrive as a native study Artifact — with links back to the source note when available, so any card can be checked against the lecture.

Can Phrase quiz me before an exam?

Yes. Phrase creates quizzes with multiple-choice answers, feedback, and scoring, generated from your notes. Mind maps are also available when you want to see the structure of a topic instead of testing recall.

Can I study from PDFs, slides, and photos — not just recordings?

Yes. Import the professor’s PDF handout, up to 8 photos of slides or a whiteboard in one note, an audio file, or a recorded seminar video. Each becomes a source-backed note that study tools can be generated from.

Where do my flashcards live?

Flashcards, quizzes, and mind maps are Artifacts — independent items in your Phrase library, rendered as native views. They stay on your device, sync through your own iCloud with Pro, and can be exported to PDF.
