  1. Record or import

In-app recording, audio files from anywhere, or video — Phrase keeps the video and reads its audio.

  2. Transcribed

In 100+ languages, with timestamps and optional speaker labels on the segments.

  3. Organized

A title, an emoji, a summary, and a structured body of editable blocks.

  4. The note lands

Only when processing succeeds. Failures retry cleanly instead of leaving stubs.

Native capture

Recording that feels built-in. Because it is.

A live waveform, a big red button, and nothing between you and the take. Start from the app, Control Center and Lock Screen controls, a widget, or your Apple Watch — then put the phone down and be in the room.

Server-first

A pipeline you can watch working.

Uploading, transcribing, organizing — every stage is visible, and the note materializes only when the whole run succeeds. A dropped connection never leaves a half-empty note in your library; the task retries instead. Media is processed to build the note, then nothing is kept on our servers.

100+ languages

Speak the language you think in.

Transcription covers 100+ languages, and search keeps up: CJK substring matching for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, prefix matching for Latin scripts.

The transcript you keep

Not a wall of text. An instrument.

Transcripts live in the Source Viewer next to their audio: search inside them, copy them out, read full-screen, follow along during playback, and tap any segment to hear the moment again. The transcript is how you trust the note.

FAQ

Voice to notes, answered.

What audio can Phrase turn into notes?

In-app recordings, imported audio files, and video imports — Phrase keeps the original video and extracts its audio for transcription. Blank notes, PDFs, and image sets are supported alongside audio.

What does the finished note include?

A completed task can create the title, an emoji, a summary, the transcription, and an organized body of editable blocks — with source metadata and the original media attached.

What happens if processing fails halfway?

Nothing is left behind. Phrase is server-first: the note materializes only after processing succeeds, so a failed or canceled task never creates an empty half-note. Failed tasks can simply be retried.

Which languages are supported?

Phrase records and transcribes in 100+ languages. Search is CJK-friendly, with substring matching for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean and prefix matching for Latin scripts.
